Abstract

The path to accelerating electrons to 10 GeV provides challenges in the design and control of accelerating structures for laser-plasma accelerators (LPAs). We emphasize the importance of plasma density control and diagnostics, and demonstrate the latest progress in employing interferometric density measurements, as well as active laser-induced modification of the plasma channel density properties. Also outlined are the upgrades currently underway to get to 10 GeV on BELLA.
