Abstract
We show that a few skin-depth ion-soliton that is left over in the plasma behind the electron wakefields with near-hollow plasma profile, has unique fields when driven by energy sources. We explore the possibility of using these fields for accelerating and transporting positron beams. Using analytical and computational model we show that by tailoring the channel radius the wakefield properties can be tuned to match it to the beam to be accelerated.
